Mr. Goodman’s experience includes significant operational experience in technology companies, M&A and deal-making from a corporate perspective, business development in the technology area and international strategic planning for Fortune 500 companies. He has particular expertise in enterprise software, BPO, IT Services, as well as consumer products. Prior to founding Pharus, Mr. Goodman was Vice President and General Manager of govWorks, Inc. where he was responsible for the company’s consumer division and online business. Before govWorks, Mr. Goodman was Director of Corporate Development for Revlon, leading the company’s acquisitions and divestitures. Prior to Revlon, Mr. Goodman was in the Corporate Development group at R.R. Donnelley & Sons, served in the National Economic Council at the White House and was a management consultant for William Kent International, a boutique consulting firm.
Mr. Goodman graduated with a BS in Economics, cum laude, from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and earned an MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Harrell has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, refinancings, and principal investments in a variety of industries, including business process outsourcing, broadcast technology, enterprise software, industrial technology, consumer products, energy, and aerospace/defense. Prior to founding Pharus Advisors, LLC., Mr. Harrell assisted in starting Conway, Del Genio, Gries & Co. LLC, a restructuring and M&A advisory firm. Previously, Mr. Harrell was a Managing Director and founding member of The Chart Group, L.P., an international merchant banking advisory and private equity firm. He began his career in Ernst & Young's M&A and restructuring advisory practice.
Mr. Harrell graduated with a BS from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and earned an M.A. in Comparative European Studies from the University of Sussex.
Mr. Buechley has extensive M&A, financing and operational experience in directing companies through highly transitional situations. Mr. Buechley focused on clean technology, BPO, software, and traditional industries. Prior to founding Pharus, he worked with Kohlberg and Company, LLC in varying capacities including consultative, portfolio companies’ executive, and investment analyses. Mr. Buechley has worked in a variety of industries, including software, retail, and manufacturing sectors, and most recently he served as Interim CFO for Color Spot Nurseries, Inc. Previously, Mr. Buechley was a general management consultant for the Lucas Group where he managed and executed buy-side advisory, economic viability, and operational improvement engagements.
Mr. Buechley began his career at Arthur Andersen as a CPA. He earned a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
Dr. Orlow serves as a Senior Advisor to Pharus, focusing on the healthcare and consumer products sectors. He has over 25 years of experience in medicine, science, and finance. As a faculty member at New York University, Dr. Orlow rose to become Chair of the largest Dermatology department. In 1995 he co-founded Anaderm, a cosmeceutical discovery company backed by Pfizer and OSI Pharmaceuticals. He participated in the sale of Anaderm to Pfizer in 2002. From 2001-2010, he rose from Advisor to Partner with Easton Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused on healthcare and consumer products. At Easton, he was involved in the sourcing, diligence, funding, oversight and exit of investments in many healthcare companies. As an inventor, Dr. Orlow has licensed technologies to companies ranging from Pfizer to SkinMedica. An author of over 200 medical/scientific publications, he is an internationally sought-after speaker and thought leader.
A graduate of Harvard in Biochemical Sciences and with an MD-PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Orlow trained in Pediatrics and Dermatology at Mt. Sinai and Yale.
As an industry veteran, Joan has over 20 years of industry experience and has consistently been a top producer, raising capital for technology companies in the late-stage venture space backed by Kleiner Perkins, Benchmark Capital, Doll Capital, Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, and others. She has been instrumental in securing lead investors and negotiating terms for nearly $1 Billion in completed transactions.
Most recently, she has acted in senior leadership roles, successfully launching, capitalizing, and managing various funds at Harvest Capital Strategies and Huntington Allen. Before launching Huntington Allen, she was Senior Managing Director with Advanced Equities, Inc. where she led efforts in institutional sales, with extensive relationships across RIAs, foundations, endowments and hedge funds, and launched the organization’s first late stage venture fund. Joan’s approach has been shaped by the early years of her career in business development, product development, and management roles for firms with highly quantitative investment approaches including AXA Rosenberg and Dimensional Fund Advisors. Joan was also a member of the founding team responsible for launching OffRoad Capital, the first internet-based private equity market in 1999. Joan began her career in institutional sales with Montgomery Securities and Robertson Stephens.
Joan earned her BS from University of California, Berkeley in 1986. She is also a World Champion Masters Swimmer and a record-holder for her English Channel crossing.
Mr. O’Keefe’s experience includes deep knowledge in financing, mergers and acquisitions and operational excellence. Mr. O'Keefe has a extensive experience with private transactions having worked on financings in excess of $400 million for companies backed by well known venture firms such as Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, New Enterprise Associates, Benchmark Capital, Morgenthaler, Sequoia Capital, and Khosla Ventures. He has particular experience with alternative energy, enterprise software, BPO, wireless technology and infrastructure software.
Previously in his career Mr. O'Keefe served at a Chicago-based boutique private equity firm managing direct portfolio and fund-of-fund investments. Mr. O'Keefe was also Director of Global Operations for a division of GE Medical Systems Information Technologies, where he was responsible for manufacturing, procurement, order management and customer service and attained GE's Six Sigma certification. While in this role he was responsible for and associated with the operational integration of more than 20 acquisitions. Prior to joining GE he was an officer in the US Army Armor Corps where he held various leadership positions and conducted logistical planning and deployment of troops to the Balkan Peninsula on two occasions.
Mr. O'Keefe holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomechanics from Marquette University and holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago.
Mr. Mattoo is a Vice President and early member of the Pharus team. He has advised companies globally on mergers, acquisitions, financings, and restructuring for over nine years. Mr. Mattoo has worked with companies in a variety of technology, media, and telecom sectors including software, technology enabled services, media, and broadcast technology.
Prior to joining Pharus, Mr. Mattoo was part of the investment banking team at the New York office of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, a leading nationwide investment bank providing M&A, financial restructuring, financing and valuation services. At Houlihan Lokey Mr. Mattoo worked on financial restructuring and M&A engagements in an array of industries including telecommunications, gaming, manufacturing, financial services and real estate. In addition, Mr. Mattoo gained extensive experience at Houlihan Lokey in valuing companies in a wide variety of industries and delivering M&A related fairness opinions.
Mr. Mattoo received a B.S. in Finance and Economics from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Prior to joining Pharus Advisors, Mr. Levy founded Oxygene Technologies in Tel-Aviv, Israel a consulting company advising hi-tech and consumer goods companies in the Information Systems field. Prior to Oxygene Technologies, Mr. Levy was CTO for Acirca, Inc., an organic food company, producers of the Walnut Acres Brand. Prior to Acirca, Inc. Mr. Levy worked for Dannon Waters North America. In addition, Mr. Levy has extensive experience in valuing companies in wide variety of industries and worked in the Investment Banking division of BNP Paribas in Paris.
Mr. Levy holds an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business received a M.S. in Computer Science of the Ecole Superieure d’Electricite, a top French Grandes Ecoles.
Prior to joining Pharus, Mr. Bullock was an analyst with Seidman & Co., a New York appraisal and investment banking firm. While at Seidman & Co., Mr. Bullock was responsible for deriving and reporting corporate valuations in connection with tax, transaction and restructuring activities. He has worked with public and private entities across a variety of stages and industries, including: biotechnology, chemicals, education, entertainment, financial services, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and technology.
Before Seidman & Co., Mr. Bullock held roles as a securities pricing analyst with Northern Trust, a junior associate with Chicago Investment Group, and a summer intern within Neuberger Berman’s Chicago office.
Mr. Bullock received a B.S. in Finance from the Walter E. Heller School of Business at Roosevelt University in Chicago. He is currently a Level II CFA candidate.
